Meet The Team
Lindsey Hershberger, DPT, PWR!, LSVT BIG
Thanks for stopping by! I’m Lindsey Hershberger, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the owner of Empower Balance. For nearly 15 years, I’ve been blessed with a front row seat to witness the transformative and protective power of exercise for people with Parkinson’s and neurological disorders.
It became my mission is to shift the standard beyond encouraging exercise, to prescribing and personalizing movement medicine. want every client to have the confidence that they are getting their movement medicine right, and can keep getting it right, for life.
I believe wholeheartedly that personalized exercise is a powerful, life changing medicine, especially for those with chronic illnesses.
Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ohio University and Doctorate in Physical Therapy (PT) from The Ohio State University in 2009. Early in my career, I found my passion working with patients with neurodegenerative diseases and earned several specialty Parkinson’s care certifications including PWR!, LSVT BIG, Delay the Disease.
I met my husband, Nate, while I was finishing up PT school and he was working as a PT at Ohio State. We have some riveting dinner conversations talking gait patterns and back pain:) We have three, sweet and energetic sons that keep us on the move. My favorite hobbies include traveling, exploring local parks and trails with my boys, running, home improvement projects and listening to music around our firepit.
Bridget Swartzel, PT, DPT
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida and completed my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. During my education, I quickly realized I loved working with individuals of all ages with neurological conditions. Since then, I’ve had the chance to work with a wide range of diagnoses, including spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, myasthenia gravis, balance disorders, and vestibular conditions.
I have a strong interest in neurologic rehabilitation and am currently sitting for the Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) exam in March 2026. What fuels me as a physical therapist is building genuine connections with my patients and designing individualized, goal-driven treatment plans that challenge, motivate, and actually make therapy fun. I believe movement is powerful—especially when therapy is high-intensity, evidence-based, and centered around what truly matters to each patient.
When I’m not in the clinic, I’m usually moving in some way—whether that’s CrossFit, hanging out at the YMCA, lifting weights, or squeezing in a yoga class. I also love getting outside with my husband and son and finding new ways to stay active, balanced, and a little sweaty.")
